It was created by Monlith games company in and licensed by Warner Brothers games division. It is a fast paced, action filled game that has as much humor as it does mayhem. Recently, the Gamespy servers which host the matchmaking for game lobbies were bought by another company, Ziff Davis and Glu. When the Bat’s away Read Review. Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to rebel against conformity as they customise their own characters. Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains, gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customisation options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons. The game features maps and modes inspired by DC Comics’ Batman license.

I like my Batman like I like my coffee: dark. Hell, I even think Robin is a travesty — the campy tone of a Boy Wonder just clashes with a borderline sociopath vigilante. So a game about a bunch of wannabe Bats and Jokerz dressed up in ridiculous, cartoonish costumes and doing battle in an over-the-top shooter had me somewhat skeptical to begin with, and our two-star review of the original paid version did nothing to assuage my cynicism.

I admit it, I wasn’t expecting much from Gotham City Imposters. Then I actually played it. I don’t think Gotham City Impostors got a fair shake. It’s a perfectly competent and enjoyable class-based shooter that I’ve had nothing but a good time with. Unfortunately, it cost some money when it came out. That’s no good in this free-to-play oriented shooter market.

Though the DLC costumes that are available online can be earned in-game, to bypass the lengthy leveling process players can simply fork over a couple bucks and jump to the head of the line. Yes, it does include a few new gadgets and gizmos for the faux Jokers and Batmans to play around with, but a feature like joining a match mid-game should not be considered downloadable content nor should being able to mute annoying players.

However, that’s what Gotham City Impostors players are getting: a few new trinkets and some heavily requested features all delivered under the guise of DLC.

Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) support status is unknown. Issues fixed • Link[edit]. Slow loading level and aero disabling.

New to Shacknews? Signup for a Free Account. Gotham City Impostors is rolling out its first free DLC pack today, which adds several new costumes, weapons, gadgets, and more. Monolith is also starting waves of correcting the stat glitch by gifting XP and Costume Coins to affected players. The update brings a few fixes, along with a new map and a host of weapons, gadgets, and perks for you to customize your Impostor. You’ll be prompted to download the DLC next time you start up the game.

A few of the most notable additions are the 25th Floor map, and new costumes like the luchador, corporate lackey, and ninja above. The empty “Costumes” option has been removed from the Black Market menu, so you’ll find all the new costumes as individual pieces in the Customize menu. They can be purchased with in-game Coins or real currency, like all the other costumes. The new loadout options seem made for aspiring ninjas.

The Falcon Blade is a short-range sword, and the Kingmaker pistol lets you switch quickly to a weak long-range option. The Toxic Gas support item leaves a cloud of damaging vapors to aid in getaways. And the new Nimble Fingers fun fact lets you detach batteries and capture gasblasters faster. Plus, a new “Ninja” voice can be found in the Voices menu, so all-in-all this update seems to favor the martial artists.

But combat is the name of the game — with lots of weapons, explosives, and other gadgets used to destroy the other team –so it doesn’t have a very positive message. One team has people dressed as Batman, who is a positive role model for the most part, but the other team has people dressed as the malevolent The Joker.

Combat, the free multiplayer release we did after F. Gotham City Impostors is an upcoming first-person shooter that allows players to take on the roles of psychopathic Batman or Joker wannabes. It was originally slated for release on January 10, but unfortunately it’s been delayed until February. However, the good news is that the beta has been rolling for a while now, and we hopped in to take it for a test drive. Players choose a side—the Bats or the Jokerz—and dress up in hilariously bad costumes before shooting the opposing team members in the face over and over again.

The character progression system has 1, levels of advancement—you read that correctly, 1,—and I’m guessing there will be meaningful unlocks pretty high up the ladder. We only able to scratch the surface of what the game will offer in terms of advancement, since the beta level cap is a mere We also weren’t able to confirm whether the game would have its own version of Call of Duty’s Prestige mode, though with 1, levels, who needs it? The beta showed off two playable modes, Fumigation and Psychological Warfare.

Fumigation plays a lot like Call of Duty’s Domination: there are three numbered “Gasblasters” that players must capture. If a team is able to hold at least two Gasblasters, their score will continue to increase while the opposing team’s decreases. Psychological Warfare is a more capture-the-flag-style mode, in which players must retrieve batteries to power up propaganda machines that demoralize the opponents.
